Mechanical Board

Mission Statement: “To Establish a Standardization of Quality for Continuing Education Courses Statewide While Maintaining Ease of Accessibility Throughout the State.”

The Mechanical Board provides technical code review and recommendations to the City Council and County Commission on matters involving the Mechanical Codes; mechanical installations, construction & remodeling; and contractor licensing.

Primary focus/responsibilities of the Mechanical Board include:

  1. reviewing mechanical codes and recommending to City Council and County Commission proposed code adoptions or code changes;
  2. hearing appeals to Metropolitan Area Building Construction Department interpretations of Mechanical Codes;
  3. reviewing and approving/denying alternate heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration or boiler materials and/or methods of installation;
  4. reviewing and applications for mechanical contractor licenses, and conducting hearings to consider probation, suspension or revocation of such licenses.

MEETINGS:

The Mechanical Board currently meets on the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 AM at 271 W 3rd, in room 126 (MABCD Large Conference).

MEMBER INFORMATION:

The Mechanical Board is a City Council and County Commission - appointed seven-member board consisting of a master contractor, a journeyman heating and air conditioning mechanic, a refrigeration contractor, a master air conditioning and warm air heating, a journeyman boiler mechanic, a mechanical engineer, and a citizen at-large.
